With more and more men all over the world suffering from prostrate cancer and many succumbing to it, it is high time that men figured out a way to try and prevent this condition from affecting them, or at least take measures to reduce the risk of getting prostate cancer.
What are the symptoms of prostrate cancer? It starts with urination that gets a bit more frequent and if left unattended, there could be pain while urinating as well as pain in the lower back. Sometimes, this could progress to blood in the urine and then, difficulty in urination. No, this does not mean that you definitely have prostrate cancer but what it does mean is that you just have to go and get yourself tested to rule out the possibility of prostrate cancer or if you do, to get it attended to immediately.

What really triggers off prostrate cancer? Well, you could try and prevent it by being careful about your diet and this is especially so if you are male and over 50. Studies have showed that the areas where prostrate cancer is at its worst is where the diet includes a lot of fat and very little fiber. So you need to look at what kind of food goes on your plate.

An interesting fact is that in parts of the world where there were hardly any incidences of prostrate cancer more people are now getting the disease after adopting a more “American” diet.

Red meats especially are thought to increase cancer risks, probably because of the amounts of saturated fats they have. This is true of dairy products too, especially the full fat ones. So the message is loud and clear. Say No to the fat. This is especially so if your family has a history of prostrate cancer.

It is also vital for those with urinary tract or prostrate problems to adopt this change in eating habits. Diet is so important and just cutting back, even if you don’t cut fat off altogether, goes a long way toward a prostrate cancer-free existence. What’s more, if you adopt this, it will also help as far as conditions like obesity and diabetes are concerned.

So what do you substitute it with? Fruits and vegetables of course. Before you go ‘uggh!’, just take a bit of time out to pause and consider. Wouldn’t it be better to insure yourself for a healthy future? You do it where your finances are concerned, why not when your health is in question? Fruits and vegetables are low calorie, high when it comes to nutrients and filled with fiber to help your digestion work better. All you need to do is to see that they are served up so they are tasty and in a form you like. And the great side effect is that you’ll soon find you’re losing weight. Of course, don’t just go on a diet without talking to your physician about it. That way, you’ll be under his supervision and he can monitor your well being.
